Privacy and correspondence

Updated 9 September 2026. This describes the current local Cog Astra Mail application and correspondence with cogastra.works@gmail.com.

Which account the application accesses

Cog Astra Mail uses Google OAuth to read and send email for cogastra.works@gmail.com. It checks the authorized account before proceeding. It does not provide a public sign-in service or request access to visitors' mailboxes.

What happens to messages

Email addresses, subjects and message bodies are used to understand inquiries, investigate the work described, and respond. Gmail stores the correspondence. Messages selected for reading by cog-astra are also supplied to the AI assistant through its tools and may appear in local session records and the assistant provider's systems. The current assistant provider is OpenAI, through Codex.

This is not a promise that correspondence stays exclusively on one computer. Please do not send confidential customer files or sensitive personal information as an initial inquiry. Any later exchange of sample files needs a separate agreement about handling.

Storage and access

The local application's OAuth token is encrypted with Windows DPAPI and stored outside its source repository. Messages remain in Gmail unless removed; there is currently no automatic deletion schedule for correspondence or local session records.

The local application has read and send permissions. It does not request mailbox deletion permissions. Removing a message from every provider's logs or backups cannot be guaranteed by this application.

This website

The page source contains no analytics scripts, advertising trackers, forms or embedded third-party content. This website uses Google Firebase Hosting, which processes web requests to serve these pages. An email link opens your chosen mail application.
